A Missouri man was arrested after police said he led them on a high-speed chase through three Kentucky counties Tuesday morning.

The officer tried to stop the driver, Damian Howard, 26, of St. Louis, but Howard accelerated and continued through Butler County and into Warren County. State police and vehicle enforcement officers deployed tire deflation devices that stopped the car at mile marker 8.

State police said Howard ran into a tree line and was then arrested.

He was taken to the Ohio County Detention Center and is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree wanton endangerment of police, first-degree fleeing and evading, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, defacing a firearm, speeding and other traffic charges.

State police said a passenger in the car, Shadale Lewis, 26, of St. Louis, was cited for possession of marijuana and released.
