Man charged with murder in Kentucky crash that killed his 10-year-old daughter

A Barren County man has been charged with murder and driving under the influence in connection with a crash that killed a 10-year-old child.

Christopher M. McCoy, 32, of Glasgow was charged this week in connection with a May 10 crash that killed the 10-year-old girl who was in the vehicle with him, according to Kentucky State Police. It was McCoy’s second DUI offense, according to state police.

The girl who died was McCoy’s daughter, according to his arrest citation.

The crash happened on Coral Hill Road in Barren County, where McCoy went off the right side of the road before overcorrecting, driving off the left side of the road and hitting multiple trees, according to state police.

McCoy was taken to T.J. Samson Hospital to be treated for his injuries, but the child died at the scene of the crash, according to state police. The girl was wearing a seat belt when the crash happened.

McCoy is being held at the Barren County jail on a $75,000 bond, according to the jail website.
