Kentucky man charged with murder after 2 homicide victims found, police say

Special police units arrested a Breckinridge County man charged with murder on Thursday, according to Kentucky State Police.

Montez D. Johnson, 28, was taken into custody by KSP’s Special Response Team and the Louisville Metro Police Department’s SWAT team Thursday, police said, after two people were found dead at a residence in Garfield.

Steven R. Gann, a 45-year-old Garfield resident, and Jacob R. Loeffler, a 26-year-old Elizabethtown resident, were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the early hours of Thursday, police said. KSP Post 4 was contacted by the Breckinridge County sheriff’s office to help with the investigation.

An initial investigation identified Johnson as a suspect, and he was found at an apartment complex on Ledgewood Parkway in Louisville. He was apprehended without further incident, police said.

Johnson was taken to the Breckinridge County Detention Center, police said. In total, five law enforcement agencies were involved in the response, KSP said.
