Man arrested in connection with Lexington shootings, including one outside Fayette Mall
A man accused in multiple shootings and a strangulation case has been arrested in Lexington.
Lexington police said they arrested Santrice Bybee, 26, on Friday, charging him in connection with shootings at Fayette Mall and on Pennebaker Road.
Police said Bybee was involved in a shooting in which he and other people exchanged nearly 50 shots outside Dillard’s at the mall on the afternoon of July 4. A car with a woman and child inside was damaged in the shooting.
Lexington police said they are still investigating to determine who else was involved.
Bybee is accused of shooting two men in a narcotics-related incident on Pennebaker Road May 28, police said.
He was taken to the Fayette County Detention Center and is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree criminal mischief, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and trafficking in controlled substances.
This is the second time in a matter of weeks that Bybee has been arrested.
In late July, Bybee was charged with strangulation, as well as drug and gun offenses, after he allegedly attacked a woman with whom he had been in a relationship.
“Both times Bybee was arrested, he was found to be in possession of controlled substances such as heroin and cocaine, as well as items indicative of drug trafficking,” police said in a news release.
