Police: KY man tried to sell child for $2,500. He and mother admit meth use.

A man who was allegedly trying to sell a child at a convenience store in Knox County has been charged with promoting human trafficking, according to Kentucky State Police.

Police said the man, Harry Day, 29, was trying to sell a child for $2,500.

Day pleaded guilty at a hearing on Monday and was sentenced to a year in jail, according to court records.

The incident happened Aug. 16. at the Speedy Mart in Corbin. A witness heard Day offer to sell the 4-year-old boy to two different people, according to a citation.

Witnesses reported the license number of the car and a description of the white Nissan to state police. Officers found the car at a residence in Corbin.

Police also found the child and his mother, Gertrude Henson, at her house.

There was methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at the home, and Henson and Day both admitted using meth earlier that day, police said.

In addition to human trafficking, police charged Day with impaired driving. Henson was charged with possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
