Shooting at Lexington apartment complex leaves one with life-threatening injuries

Lexington police are investigating after a shooting at an apartment complex left a young man with life-threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to an apartment complex at 2070 Garden Springs Drive at about 2:30 p.m. for a report of an 18- or 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound, police Lt. Samantha Moore said. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Lexington police were still investigating and searching for the suspect, who was last seen wearing a gray bandanna as a mask, Moore said. The shooting happened inside one of the apartments in the complex, The Vue Lexington.

If the victim is confirmed to be a teenager, the shooting Wednesday is the latest in a string of gun violence involving teens in Lexington. Four males between the ages of 17 and 19 have been killed in shootings since Aug. 16. Police have said the fatal shootings weren’t random.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there was no indication the Garden Springs Drive shooting was connected to any of the others, but the investigation was ongoing, Moore said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the non-emergency line at 859-258-3600.
