Former Bell County teacher sentenced after soliciting pictures of minors on Facebook

A former Bell County teacher and assistant basketball coach has been sentenced in federal court to 15 years and eight months in prison after he admitted to soliciting explicit pictures from underage boys.

Jordan Ryan Turner, 32, pleaded guilty in 2019 to attempting to produce child pornography, according to court records. The prison sentence for the charge could have been between 15 and 30 years, according to the plea agreement.

Turner admitted to using Facebook and Kik to request the images from minors in March of 2018, when he was still a teacher in Bell County, according to court records.

Turner must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, according to the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky. He will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for another 10 years after he is released.

The case was investigated by Kentucky State Police and the FBI.
