Lexington police investigating death of 56-year-old woman as a homicide

The Lexington Police Department is investigating the death of a woman in her home Monday morning as a homicide.

Officers were called to a home on Majestic View Walk at about 9:30 a.m. Monday and found the homeowner dead, according to police. The woman who died was 56 years old and the circumstances surrounding her death were suspicious, police said.

Majestic View Walk is off Sandersville Road, not far from Sandersville Elementary School.

Investigators believe the victim may have known her attacker, and that the attack was isolated, police said.

This is the sixth Lexington homicide reported by police in August and the 25th in the city this year.

The victim’s name had not been released by the Fayette County coroner’s office as of 6:15 p.m.
