Lexington police seek help finding driver in hit-and-run collision that killed pedestrian

A 33-year-old pedestrian died in a hit-and-run collision late Saturday night, and Lexington police are asking for the public’s help in finding the vehicle that hit him.

Police said they found the man lying on Versailles Road after receiving a call at 11:24 p.m. about a crash involving a pedestrian, according to a news release.

The collision happened between Westgate Drive and Hamilton Park, and after hitting the man, police said they think the driver continued heading outbound on Versailles Road.

The victim, whose name was not released by police, was taken to a hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Police said they are working to determine the make and model of the vehicle that hit the man and are looking for any surveillance footage of the area.

Based on debris at the scene, police said they think the front driver’s side of the vehicle was damaged in the crash.

There was another pedestrian-involved crash Tuesday night in the area of New Circle Road and Russell Cave Road, according to WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner. The pedestrian was seriously hurt, but the driver stayed on scene and charges are not expected to be filed, according to WKYT.
