Man hears gunfire, realizes he’s been shot while walking, Lexington police say

A man showed up at a Lexington hospital after he was shot while walking down the street overnight, Lexington police said.

The man told police he was walking inbound on Georgetown Road near Red State BBQ when the shooting happened, according to Lt. Chris Van Brackel. Red State BBQ is north of I-64.

“He heard a gunshot, then realized he had been hit,” Van Brackel said. He called a friend to take him to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, Van Brackel said. His injuries were not life-threatening, Van Brackel said.

Police didn’t have any suspect or crime scene information, Van Brackel said.
