Updated: Man dies after shooting at Lexington home. Police looking for female suspect.

Police were searching for a suspect after a shooting that left a man dead Tuesday.

Lexington police responded to the shooting scene in the 400 block of Larkwood Drive about 12 p.m. and found one victim with life-threatening injuries, Lt. Chris Van Brackel said.

The man, Daniel Eric Nantz, 38, was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was pronounced dead as a result of a gunshot wound at 12:44 p.m., according to the Fayette County coroner’s office.

On Tuesday night, police said they were looking for Dana Caldwell, 39, and had warrants for her arrest charging with her with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Caldwell and the victim were acquaintances and had been in a “disorder” before the shooting at his home, police said.

Caldwell is a white woman with red hair. Police said she was seen fleeing from the scene after the shooting.

Police asked anyone who knows where Caldwell is to call them. Tips can also be sent anonymously through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.

There was a witness on the scene, but Van Brackel said he couldn’t discuss how many people were in the house when the shooting happened.

“I know that’s not a very good description, that’s the best we have right now,” Van Brackel said. “But certainly if anyone in this area sees someone that’s out of place if they would call 911, and we’ll investigate from there.”

Nantz’s death was the 26th homicide of the year for Lexington, according to police.
