Lexington man hospitalized after being shot in his home, police say

A Lexington man was hospitalized Wednesday morning after being shot in his home, police said.

The man was shot about 6:15 a.m. and ran to his neighbor’s house to call police, according to Lt. Ronald Keaton. He was transported to a hospital with injuries that initially appeared serious.

“We initially thought they were life-threatening, but I guess once they got him to the hospital, they determined them to be non-life-threatening,” Keaton said.

Police don’t believe the shooting was random since it occurred in the man’s home, Keaton said.

A couple of people may have witnessed the shooting, but police did not have suspect information, he said.

Investigators didn’t think the shooting was connected to Tuesday’s homicide on Larkwood Drive, which was also inside a residence, Keaton said. The female shooting in that suspect was taken into custody Wednesday morning, police said.
