Teen girl shot at Lexington gas station, police say. Officers ask for public’s help

Lexington police were looking for the public’s help after a 17-year-old girl was shot at a Thorntons gas station.

Officers responded to the gas station at the corner of Tates Creek Road and Redding Road for a shots fired report around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, Lt. Ronald Keaton said. They found the teenage girl with a minor injury from the shooting, Keaton said. Shots also hit the front of the store, Keaton said, but no one else was hurt. No shell casings were found.

There were “several people in the area,” Keaton said. He said investigators are hoping the public will help provide information about the shooting because police had no information on a suspect.

Police encouraged anyone with knowledge on the case to call police at (859) 258-3600. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by using a P3 Tips app available at www.p3tips.com. Information can also be sent anonymously through Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at (859) 253-2020 or www.bluegrasscrimestoppers.com.
