‘Suspected blood’ found in car, home before KY mom’s body located. Husband charged.
“Suspected blood evidence” was discovered at a home and inside a missing Hart County mother’s car before her body was found and her estranged husband was charged, according to court records.
William Burden, 53, of Upton was charged Thursday with the murder in the death of 27-year-old Erica Burden who had been missing since Tuesday after dropping her child off at school.
Erica Burden of Bonnieville was seen in the area of Bonnieville Dollar General Store with William Burden about 8 a.m. Tuesday, police said in William Burden’s arrest citation. Her vehicle was found at Bonnieville Elementary School and suspected blood evidence was found inside, according to court records.
On Wednesday, Kentucky State Police searched William Burden’s residence and found more suspected blood evidence and other items connected to Erica Burden, court records say.
Erica Burden’s body was found near Upton in LaRue County Thursday and William Burden was arrested, police said.
“Please continue to keep our family in your prayers, especially for my niece Lily,” said Burden’s sister Anna Jewell in a Facebook post. “This is not fair for any of us but I cannot imagine the hurt Lily is feeling or will feel growing up without her mama.”
In addition to murder, William Burden, 53, was charged with evidence tampering and abuse of a corpse. He was being held at the LaRue County Detention Center.
“It’s just a small community up there and everybody kind of knows everybody so we just got tips from different sources,” KSP detective Courtney Milam said of the arrest.
Family members thanked supporters and those who had spread the word about Erica Burden’s disappearance.
“I would like to thank everyone for their help and support it is heartwarming to know that Erica touched the hearts of so many people,” said Shelby Nunn, Erica Burden’s father, in a Facebook post. “Thanks again everyone and God bless all of you.”
