LCA student expelled for sending ‘disturbing snapchat message’

Lexington Christian Academy has expelled a student for sending a “disturbing snapchat message” to several students, according to a statement from LCA head of school Scott Wells that was sent out to LCA family, staff and faculty.

LCA’s administrative team became aware of the message Monday evening, the same day it was sent out, per Wells. The student accused of sending the message was immediately suspended and later expelled after an investigation by the LCA Security Officer and Lexington Police Department.

“I want to take this opportunity to remind our students that posting threatening messages on social media can have serious consequences,” Wells wrote in the statement. “LCA has a zero-tolerance policy, and any student making a threat will be investigated by law enforcement and possibly arrested. I also want to remind our school family if you or your student see or hear something, notify the school.

Wells also applauded the students’ courage for reporting the message in the statement. There was never any immediate danger at the school according to Wells.
