Updated: Coroner identifies man who was found dead after a Lexington shooting
Lexington police were investigating after a man with a gunshot wound died after being found lying in the street Friday night.
Police and the Lexington Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a person down on the 1700 block of Cantrill Drive, off Eastland Parkway, at 9:09 p.m., said Lexington police Lt. Brian Martin.
When they arrived, the found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds, unresponsive in the street, according to police and the Fayette County coroner’s office.
The victim was identified as Kobby Lee Martin, a 26-year-old man who lived in Lexington, according to the coroner’s office. An autopsy was performed Saturday on Martin’s body at the state medical examiner’s office in Louisville. Funeral arrangements were pending as of Saturday night.
Martin was pronounced dead at the scene, Lt. Brian Martin said. He said the shooting happened within “a short time frame” of when police were called.
No suspect information was released.
On Saturday morning, police asked anyone who lives in the area and has home surveillance video to check it.

It was Lexington’s second homicide of the year. On Jan. 3, D’Andre Green was found shot inside a residence on Anniston Drive.
