An Amber Alert was issued and then canceled late Friday after four children who were taken from a Bardstown home where a woman was murdered were reportedly found safe.

The four boys, ages 1, 6, 9 and 10, were taken from the residence by Richard S. Gray, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Gray, 32, allegedly killed the woman at about 5 p.m. and then fled her home with the four kids in a Jeep Patriot, according to the center.

The children were found safe by police in Mount Vernon, Ill., at about 11:15 p.m., Bardstown police said. Gray was taken into custody and charged with murder and unlawful imprisonment.

Bardstown police said in a Facebook post that they found the woman’s body in the kitchen floor when they were called to 151 Robin Drive to conduct a welfare check at 5:26 p.m. Friday.
