One person in Lexington was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in a shooting on Chase Place, according to police.

Police got the call around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of an assault. Lt. Daniel Burnett described the incident as a domestic situation, where one of the parties involved shot another party.

The victim, an 18-year-old man later identified as Darian Webb by the Fayette County Coroner, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said. Webb died at the hospital shortly after arriving.

A suspect was initially identified after the shooting but not detained until later in the day, according to police. Darryl Russell, 53, was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center on charges of murder and fourth degree assault. Russell shot Webb after a physical altercation, police wrote in an arrest citation.

He’s being held on a $750,000 bond and due in court Thursday afternoon for his arraignment, according to court records.
