Kidnapping suspect apprehended after a low-speed chase on Lexington’s New Circle Road
A man led cops on a lengthy but slow pursuit through parts of eastern Lexington Monday morning, according to police.
Timothy Davis, 45, was detained Monday morning after he allegedly abducted a woman and then attempted to evade police in his vehicle for more than an hour. Police said they first responded to the reported abduction at the intersection of East Seventh Street and Jackson Street at 8:19 a.m., and they located the vehicle on Mapleleaf Drive.
Officers initiated a traffic stop, and the woman who had been abducted was able to escape from the vehicle, police said. Davis fled from police and led them on a pursuit “at a low speed,” police said.
The suspect drove between 5 and 10 miles per hour for much of the pursuit, according to police reports.
The suspect drove along New Circle Road between Alumni Drive and Winchester Road for parts of the chase, according to police reports.
The chase ended in the 500 block of Breckenridge Street, where the suspect surrendered to officers, police said.
Davis has been charged with kidnapping an adult, evading police, wanton endangerment and criminal mischief, according to police. Investigators were still looking into the case Monday evening.
