Fire department investigating more than a dozen dumpster fires started in Lexington

There were a series of dumpster fires sparked in and around the Versailles Road corridor of Lexington early Sunday morning, according to the Lexington Fire Department.

Investigators have confirmed 16 total dumpster fires and one vehicle fire were set, according to the fire department. The fires prompted the response of 18 fire vehicles and over 40 firefighters, the fire department said.

Reports of dumpster fires first started coming in at 5:30 a.m. Sunday. The investigation has led to the identification of a suspect, but no information about that individual was given, according to WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner.

The fire department is asking anyone with information about the fires to contact them at 859-231-5672 or arsontips@lexingtonky.gov. All tips can be submitted anonymously.
