The Lexington Police Department and multiple federal law enforcement agencies carried out search warrants at residences on the 400 block of Chestnut Street Thursday in an effort to “deter violent crime and illegal narcotics sales,” Lt. Daniel Burnett with the Lexington Police Department said.

Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on scene at Chestnut Street with Lexington police, the agencies confirmed. The FBI was also spotted on scene.

Officers arrived at the scene sometime Thursday morning and exited around 1 p.m. Burnett described the execution of the search warrants as successful.

“They achieved their objective,” Burnett said.

Police didn’t identify any arrested suspects arrested or give further details, but court records indicate four people were arrested on drug charges in the 400 block of Chestnut Street, which is where police were executing the warrants, between 11 a.m. and noon.

One of the suspects was also charged with assault on a police officer and having a stolen handgun, according to court records.

Police allegedly found more than 500 grams of marijuana when they executed the search warrants, according to court records. They also found cocaine, crack-cocaine, ecstasy pills and a stolen gun while they were investigating, according to court records.

At noon Thursday, Lt. Joe Anderson with the Lexington Police Department said the scene was active but there was no ongoing threat to public safety. Anderson also said more information will be released at a later time.
