Updated: Suspect in Nicholasville hotel shooting apprehended in New York, police say

A man accused of shooting a hotel clerk in Nicholasville on Wednesday has been arrested, according to Nicholasville police.

Alfredo Angel Delgado, 29, was arrested in New York after law enforcement found him at a Camping World store in Syracuse, police said.

The shooting happened at the Homeplace Inn and was reported to police at around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. Delgado immediately fled the scene, police said. According to police, the victim was alert and responsive when first responders arrived and gave some basic information to officers that led to the arrest warrant for Delgado.

Police originally said Delgado was last seen driving a gray 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. Several New York law enforcement agencies worked with Kentucky officials to help locate Delgado. Officers used “stop sticks” to damage Delgado’s tires, according to Nicholasville police.

He “attempted to flee the area but was unable to travel very far due to the damage to his tires,” police said in a Facebook post.

Delgado will be extradited back to Kentucky to face his criminal charges, police said.
