Updated: Surveillance video showed Lexington murder suspect at scene of shooting, cops say
A man accused of killing another man in Lexington in September identified himself on surveillance footage at the scene of the murder he’s accused of causing, but said he was there because someone invited him, according to court documents.
Bobby Hubbard was arrested on Jan. 21 by the Hattiesburg Police Department for an outstanding warrant from the death of 22-year-old Doricky Harris in Lexington, police previously said. He was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center at 7 p.m. Thursday and charged with murder.
In the evening hours of Sept. 12, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West Sixth Street for a report of individual who had been shot, police said. Harris was transported to the hospital but died there after arrival.
Police didn’t say what led up to the shooting.
Court documents say investigators found evidence of the shooting at the apartment building where Harris was found shot. Hubbard was eventually identified as the suspect.
Hubbard had a distinct vehicle that was spotted on surveillance video arriving at the apartment complex shortly before the shooting and leaving shortly afterwards, according to court documents. Hubbard said he was asked to come to the apartment complex by a female and even pointed himself out on the surveillance video.
Three weeks after the shooting, Hubbard was found in northern Kentucky with a handgun that matched up with the shell casing found at the shooting scene, according to court documents.
Hubbard is being held at the Fayette County Detention Center on a $750,000 bond, according to jail records.
