Man dead of multiple gunshot wounds after incident with Ky. State Police trooper

A man sustained “multiple gunshot wounds” and was pronounced dead after a traffic stop involving a Kentucky State Police trooper Monday, according to a Warren County deputy coroner.

Deputy Coroner Eric Thomason identified the man who died as Lonnie Earl Cowles, 46, of Bowling Green.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. State police did not respond to questions about who fired the shots.

State police said the “trooper-involved shooting” happened on Plano Road in Warren County at about 4:15 p.m., according to a news release issued Tuesday afternoon.

State police said no troopers were injured, and the KSP Critical Incident Response Team is investigating..
