Police: One dead, suspect arrested in a Lexington shooting

One man is dead and another in jail following an early-morning shooting on North Limestone in Lexington, according to police.

Lexington police say they were called to the intersection of West Short Street and North Limestone around 2:50 a.m. Sunday morning, where they found Kevin Vanhuddle Reel, 35, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Reel was pronounced dead on the scene by Fayette Coroner Gary Ginn, according to Hannah Sloan, a Lexington police spokesperson.

Investigarors determined that 31-year-old Scott Lawless shot Reel, according to Sloan.

Lawless was arrested and charged with murder, police said. He was being held at the Fayette County Detention Center Sunday morning.
