A former Fayette County Detention Center officer has pleaded guilty to third-degree sodomy after he was arrested for engaging in sexual activity with an inmate last year.

Joshua Rogers, 22, of Richmond, was charged and arrested for third-degree sodomy in June 2022. He entered a guilty plea last month, according to court records. Prosecutors have recommended a four-year prison sentence, according to court documents. Rogers will be a 20-year sex offender registrant and will have a 10-year interpersonal protective order filed against him.

Rogers engaged in sexual activity with an inmate at the jail, according to his indictment. LEX18 reported Rogers forced the inmate to perform oral sex on him.

Under federal law, inmates cannot consent to sexual conduct with jail employees.

Maj. Matt LeMonds from Lexington Community Corrections previously confirmed Rogers was employed with the jail but has since been terminated.

LEX18 also reported the victim was transgender and was denied hormone treatments for several days at the jail. LeMonds did not comment on whether the victim was transgender and said he could not provide anything specific regarding allegations about hormone treatment because of health privacy laws.

Rogers is scheduled to be sentenced at 1 p.m. on August 17.
