Lexington police say they arrested a man Wednesday accused of beating his 9-month-old daughter.

Police said a 9-month-old baby was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries early Tuesday morning. Shortly afterwards officers were dispatched to a home on Whitney Avenue for a welfare check and learned Syied Epps, 28, allegedly assaulted the infant.

Epps has been charged with first-degree assault (domestic violence) in connection to the incident. He’s being held at the Fayette County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond, according to court documents.

Epps was scheduled to be arraigned in Fayette District Court Thursday afternoon, according to court records.
