Lexington man charged in child sexual abuse case, Kentucky police say

A Fayette County man faces charges over alleged sexual abuse of a minor.

A Fayette County man has been charged after allegedly sexually abusing a minor for years in Nicholas County, according to Kentucky State Police.

George Greenup, 63, of Lexington, faces charges of first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sodomy, incest, distribution of obscene matter to minors, use of a minor in a sexual performance and 11 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, according to court documents.

KSP said a search warrant was conducted at Greenup’s home and equipment used in the crimes was seized for examination.

Greenup allegedly had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor for nearly five years between July 2016 and 2021, according to court documents. The victim was as young as 7 years old when the offenses occurred.

The crimes took place at Greenup’s former residence in Carlisle on a regular basis, according to court documents.

Greenup’s bond is set at $500,000, according to court records.

KSP’s Electronic Crimes Branch and the Lexington Police Department assisted with the investigation, according to KSP.
