Lexington woman charged with criminal facilitation to commit murder after police shooting
A Lexington woman was arrested after a police shooting Monday, according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting happened in the Bradfordtown community and it involved a sheriff’s deputy and the Pineville Police Department, according to the sheriff’s office. Kentucky State Police said a man was killed in the shooting but did not provide any more details.
After the shooting, 47-year-old Rebecca Caldwell of Lexington was arrested and charged with three counts of criminal facilitation to commit murder and hindering prosecution or apprehension, the sheriff’s office said. It’s unknown if Caldwell’s charges are directly related to the shooting.
Caldwell’s arrest citation says she lied about the location of Paul Holland, a man who was wanted for multiple felony warrants and firing shots at sheriff’s deputies Friday night. Caldwell told investigators that Holland had left earlier but he was really hiding nearby behind a vehicle with two handguns with the intent to murder a sheriff’s deputy and two Pineville police officers, investigators alleged in Caldwell’s citation.
Caldwell was booked into the Bell County Detention Center, the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation into Caldwell is being handled by the sheriff’s office. KSP is leading the investigation into the police shooting.
