Lexington police seek help finding suspect in fatal shooting of teen on South Broadway
The Lexington Police Department is asking the public for help finding a man who they say is responsible for a shooting that left another man dead in a parking lot on South Broadway early Saturday.
Police said the suspect, Jacolby Williams, 21, “is considered armed and dangerous.”
“Detectives are asking that Williams turn himself in to police,” LPD said in a news release Sunday morning.
The victim, Dametrius Hampton, 18, was shot outside the Cook Out restaurant at 855 South Broadway, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office said in a news release Sunday afternoon.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:14 a.m.
Police were called to the shooting at 3:27 a.m. Saturday, police said in an earlier news release.
Police said the suspect, later identified as Williams, fled before they arrived.
Williams has warrants charging him with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Police said anyone who locates him should call law enforcement.

The coroner said funeral arrangements for Hampton were incomplete Sunday. An autopsy was conducted at the state medical examiner’s office in Louisville Sunday morning.
It was the 17th homicide of 2023 for Lexington.
