Updated: Coroner’s office identifies man shot at Lexington convenience store
A man died after being shot at a convenience store on Winburn Drive Tuesday night.
Police found the victim when they were called to the shooting at the Winburn Mini Mart at 1116 Winburn Drive at 7:25 p.m.
A person at the scene was taken into custody when police arrived, said Lt. Dillan Taylor of the Lexington Police Department. Sgt. Guy Miller with LPD later said that person is no longer detained and no arrests have been made in the case.
Taylor said the victim was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. Lexington police later said in a news release that the man had been pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Robert Marshall, 33. He was pronounced dead at 7:59 p.m. from a gunshot wound.
Taylor declined to comment further on the situation and said the investigation is ongoing.
“All parties have been identified, and detectives from the Personal Crimes Section continue to investigate,” police said in a news release.

The man’s death marked the city’s 24th homicide of 2023, according to the Lexington Police Department’s website. Lexington had 44 homicides in 2022, according to the website.
