Man in Lexington shot, sent to hospital with serious injuries, police say

A man in Lexington was seriously injured in a shooting Tuesday afternoon, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. on the 400 block of Elm Street. Police said first responding officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. No description of a suspect was provided.

Police are investigating the shooting and asking the public to submit information about the incident. People can call the police department at 859-258-3600 or submit anonymous tips to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at 859-253-2020 or online at their website.

It’s the 14th non-fatal-shooting in Lexington this year, the first since March 20, according to police data. At this point last year there were 20 non-fatal-shootings.
