Updated: Police rule Lexington man’s death non-criminal, no longer investigating as a homicide
A Lexington man’s death is no-longer being investigated as a homicide after an investigation determined his death to be non-criminal, according to the Lexington Police Department.
The incident happened around 7:17 a.m. May 4 in the 2100 block of Christian Road, which is near the intersection of New Circle Road and Liberty Road. Police said officers were responding to a report of person down and found a man suffering from apparent blunt force trauma.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he died May 5, according to police. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 43-year-old David Rhineheimer. He was pronounced dead at 5:17 p.m. Sunday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
Detectives from the Personal Crimes Section were originally investigating the death as a homicide. However police confirmed Friday that Rhineheimer’s death was ruled non-criminal and it was no longer being investigated as a homicide.
No other information about the investigation was provided.
Blunt force trauma was listed as Rhineheimer’s cause of death, according to the coroner. No suspect information was provided in the original press release.
