Police ask for help investigating after child on motorcycle died in crash involving officer
A child driving an off-road motorcycle was killed in a crash involving an off-duty police officer late Saturday in Pulaski County, police said.
The child was driving a red Coleman 196cc off-road motorcycle on U.S. 27, near Old Norwood Road, around 11:45 p.m. when he collided with a Dodge Durango police vehicle, according to Kentucky State Police.
The child, whose age was not released, was not wearing a helmet. A 31-year-old off-duty Lancaster police officer was driving the Durango.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was not injured.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating.
KSP on Tuesday asked anyone who saw either the child on the motorcycle or the Lancaster Police Department vehicle on or near U.S. 27 in Pulaski County before the crash to contact Lt. Hunter Martin by calling 502-782-1847 or emailing hunter.martin@ky.gov.
