Kentucky man allegedly started fire with Axe body spray, then tried to blow up house

A Kentucky man allegedly tried to blow up a house in Bourbon County with a propane tank Friday, according to court documents.

The incident happened at a home on Thomas Avenue in Paris. Court documents say police were investigating an assault report at Bourbon Community Hospital when the assault victim told officers the suspect, 28-year-old Roque Oleivera, was trying to burn his Thomas Avenue house down.

Officers went to the home and found a mattress on fire in one of the bedrooms, according to court documents. There was a propane tank in the dining room/kitchen next to the bedroom with the burnt mattress.

Oleivera was arrested at the scene. Court documents say he started the fire with a can of AXE body spray and a cigarette, and threatened to “kill them all” and “blown the house up” with the propane tank.

Oleivera was charged with attempted murder, first-degree arson and second-degree assault, according to court records. Oleivera also assaulted one of the house’s residents with a wooden window frame.

Oleivera was intoxicated during the incident, according to court documents.
