A former Laurel County Public Schools teacher and coach has pleaded guilty to a federal charge that he persuaded a minor to engage in sexual activity.

William Trevor Goodson, 31, pleaded guilty to a charge of online enticement, according to a plea agreement filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in London. The federal government agreed not to bring additional charges.

The plea agreement states that Goodson was a teacher at the victim’s school and that he used Snapchat to communicate with the student daily between August 2023 and Feb. 23.

He used “the pattern of messages” to persuade the student “to engage in sexual contact on multiple occasions within his classroom,” the document states.

The crime carries a sentence of 10 years to life in prison and supervised release of five years to life. Goodson could be fined up to $250,000, according to the agreement.

Goodson, of Antioch, Tennessee, is facing several charges in Laurel Circuit Court, including first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree rape, unlawful transaction with a minor and use of a minor under 18 in a sexual performance, online court records show.

Goodson was listed as an assistant coach for the girls basketball team at South Laurel High School and as a coach at South Laurel Middle School, The London Sentinel-Echo previously reported.
