Woman killed, man injured in early-morning Lexington shooting

A woman was killed and a man was injured in a shooting early Sunday in Lexington.

Police responded around 1 a.m. to the 300 block of Betsy Lane for a shooting, and they found a woman with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at a hospital. The Fayette County Coroner identified her as Esmerelda Lizete Rodriguez Perez, 28, of Lexington.

A man with injuries from a gunshot wound also arrived at the hospital while police investigated the scene. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Police said they do not yet have any suspects.
