Man arrested for shooting in Madison County during domestic confrontation, police say
A man was arrested in Madison County and charged with attempted murder after he fired shots at his wife and her boyfriend, and attempted to take a department-issued AR-15, police officials said.
Deputies arrested 33-year-old Jared Boggs and charged him with attempted murder, first-degree assault, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, domestic violence, menacing, terroristic threatening and attempt to disarm a police officer.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2700 block of Doylesville Road on Thursday, Sept. 12, around 12:30 p.m. regarding a vehicle collision and a shots fired complaint.
Investigations showed Boggs arrived at Doylesville Road to confront his wife, Hillary Snowden and her boyfriend, Kurtis Smith. Boggs struck Smith with his car, as well as another parked car. Boggs pulled a firearm on Snowden and Smith, when another man, Luther Lainhart, exited the residence with a firearm and told Boggs to leave.
Boggs left, but parked further down the road and waited for Snowden and Smith to leave.
When they did, Boggs drove towards them and struck their car, causing it to overturn in the creek. Boggs exited the car and again pulled his handgun and exchange gunfire with Lainhart. Boggs entered the creek and surrendered the firearm to his wife.
When Deputy Josh Foster arrived at the scene, he was told Boggs no longer had a weapon. Boggs approached Foster with a hand behind his back and was threatening him; Foster made multiple verbal commands to Boggs, which he ignored.
Boggs ran to the passenger side of Foster’s cruiser and attempted to remove the department issued AR-15 mounted between the seats, according to police. After he failed to do so, Boggs exited the cruiser and surrendered.
Boggs was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
The case remains under investigation by Detective Josh Horn and Deputy Josh Foster.
