Bomb threat leads to closing of Kentucky courthouse

The Laurel County Courthouse was closed late Monday morning because of a bomb threat.

The threat was emailed to a media outlet, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said just after 10:30 a.m.

A Kentucky State Police dog trained to detect bombs was brought to the scene, and the sheriff’s office said nothing was found.

The courthouse and roads nearby had reopened by about 12:30 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

People were asked to avoid the area while first responders searched the building and secured the area.
