Child hurt in shooting overnight in Lexington

A child was injured in a shooting off Newtown Pike early Friday.

Police were called to Imperial Avenue just before 2 a.m. and found the child shot, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The child as taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover.

Police said the shooting is not thought to be accidental, WKYT reported

No suspect information was released. Police also did not say how old the child is.
