One dead, one injured in shooting on Tates Creek Road in Lexington

One person was killed and another person was injured in a shooting in Lexington Thursday evening, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. on the 3600 block of Tates Creek Road. Lexington police Lt. Dillan Taylor said officers responded to a report of shots fired and found two men with gunshot wounds at the scene.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Taylor. The other victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the fatally shot victim as 20-year-old Jadyn Sleet, of Georgetown.

No other information about the shooting was available.

This is the 17th homicide in Lexington this year. Seven of the homicides have happened since the beginning of September.
