Police: Kentucky man admits to killing two people, setting house on fire
A Kentucky man has been charged with murder, arson and several other charges after prosecutors say he shot two people and set a house on fire Wednesday morning in Elizabethtown.
Authorities say Dustin Caudill, of Elizabethtown, admitted to shooting Blake France, 41, of Greenville, and Anthony Garrett, 43 of Elizabethtown, inside a home on Henon Lane in Elizabethtown.
Caudill then set the home on fire and left in a gold pickup truck, police said.
The gold truck was later found at a nearby motel, and several of France and Garrett’s belongings were found inside one of the motel rooms, said Chris Denham, spokesperson for the Elizabethtown Police Department.
Caudill admitted to the crimes in an interview with police, authorities said. He also said he stole the victims’ wallets and threw them in a gas station trash can.
Caudill is charged with murder, first-degree arson, first-degree robbery, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He’s being held at the Hardin County Detention Center.
“I want to commend our dedicated patrol division, investigations section, and our intelligence analyst for their swift and consistently outstanding work,” Denham said in a Facebook post. “Their efforts led to the identification and apprehension of the suspect within an hour and a half of responding to this horrific crime.”
