Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers responded to a two-vehicle injury collision on US 68, near the intersection of Jessietown Road in Marion County around 6:20 p.m. Saturday night.

Early investigation shows 20-year-old Erick Garcia, of Lebanon, was traveling west on US 68 in a 2005 Dodge Ram when he crossed the center line of the roadway, according to state police. Alcohol was a factor in the collision, police said.

Garcia entered the eastbound lane and dropped off the roadway and steered his vehicle back into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Roy Wright, 75, of Lebanon. Wright was traveling east on US 68, according to state police.

Roy White’s passenger, Deborah Wright, 72, died at the scene according to the Marion County Coroner. Roy Wright was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where he later died.

Garcia was charged with vehicular homicide, first-degree assault, driving under the influence, first-degree wanton endangerment, and other traffic offenses. He is being housed in the Marion County Detention Center.

The investigation in to the collision is ongoing.
