State police investigating shooting in Owensboro where multiple officers fired at suspect
The Kentucky State Police Henderson post was called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting by the Owensboro Police Department.
The state police were dispatched around 4 a.m. Saturday to the 500 block of Orchard Street. Troopers and detectives responded and are processing the scene.
Early investigation by state police shows that Owensboro officers responded to a 911 call of a disturbance. They encountered a man at the home who had a knife and threatened officers and others in the house.
Multiple Owensboro officers fired their agency-issued firearms, striking the the man. Life-saving measures were performed on the scene. State police did not identify the officers involved in the shooting.
The man was transported to Owensboro Health ICU, where he is in critical but stable condition, according to state police. No other injuries were reported. The man’s name was not released.
The Owensboro police are investigating the disturbance/domestic violence call, and KSP troopers are investigating the officer-involved shooting.
