Man shot, killed outside laundromat on Newtown Pike in Lexington
A man was shot and killed Thursday afternoon outside a laundromat on Newtown Pike in Lexington.
Police responded around 2 p.m. to the 400 block of Newtown Pike for a report of a shooting, and they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound outside the laundromat.
The man, identified Friday as 62-year-old Maurice Elliott, died at a hospital.
Police detained someone near the shooting scene, but duty commander Matt Merker would not yet say if the person was involved in the shooting.
The shooting marked the city’s 21st homicide of the year.
