Milwaukee man accused of driving to Kentucky and shooting two people, killing one
A Milwaukee man is accused of driving to Kentucky and shooting two people, killing one, according to Kentucky State Police and court documents.
The shooting happened at a home on Claybrook Avenue in Washington County. KSP said 23-year-old Roosevelt Davis broke into the home, shot two women and fled the area.
Kadesha Burch, 31, of Springfield, was declared dead at the scene, according to KSP. Frances Campbell, 52, of Springfield, was shot in the face and transported to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to court documents.
Davis was identified as the suspect, and KSP issued a statewide law enforcement bulletin to attempt to locate him. KSP said a Shelbyville police officer conducted a traffic stop with Davis and he was detained.
During an interview with police, Davis admitted to burglarizing a bank in Milwaukee, using the stolen money to buy two guns, then driving to Kentucky to kill Burch and Campbell, according to court documents. He fired about 10 shots at Burch and Campbell.
Davis has been charged with murder, attempted murder and first-degree burglary. The first two charges have domestic violence additions, indicating that the victims were Burch’s family members.
His bond has been set at $2 million.
Washington County is about 50 miles southwest of Lexington, just east of Bardstown. It’s home to about 12,000 residents.
