A Kentucky man has been charged with domestic violence murder after police found a woman stabbed to death while responding to a mental health crisis, according to Kentucky State Police.

At around 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, KSP received a request for an ambulance at a home on Walter Lane, in the Watts community of Breathitt County.

KSP was told a man was having a mental health crisis.

While headed to the scene, state police received another call that the man had barricaded himself inside the home.

And when they arrived, they found Jessica Campbell-Hyde, 44, dead with stab wounds to the torso area.

Lance Hyde, 42, was arrested and charged with murder — domestic violence. Police did not indicate the relationship between Hyde and Campbell-Hyde, but the domestic violence charge indicates they have a familial relationship.

Hyde is being held on a $1 million bond, according to court records.

Campbell-Hyde’s body was sent to the Medical Examiners office for an autopsy. KSP is investigating the homicide.
