Illinois man arrested after showing up to a KY funeral heavily armed, making threats
Kentucky police Saturday arrested an Illinois man who came to the state heavily armed with plans to harm funeral attendees in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
The Williamsburg Police Department received information Friday about a man who made threats towards two others and planned to attend a funeral service in Williamsburg Saturday.
Daniel Graiber, 49, of Weaton, Illinois, made threats to harm funeral attendees and was heavily armed, according to police.
Graiber charged with second-degree terroristic threatening, impersonating a peace officer, first-degree attempt of disorderly conduct and possession of a controlled substance.
Graiber traveled from Illinois and stopped at two gun stores in southeast Kentucky, where he attempted to purchase a high-capacity gun magazine, specifically a 100-count drum.
Shortly before the start of the funeral service, Corbin Police spotted Graiber in his vehicle traveling south on I-75 toward Williamsburg.
When Graiber arrived at the funeral home, he allegedly inquired about the time family members were to arrive for the visitation.
Williamsburg police officers detained Graiber and took him into custody, police said.
During the course of the investigation, Graiber impersonated a peace officer and made statements he worked for the CIA and was associated with the FBI and Kentucky State Police.
Police seized three handguns, gun magazines, ammunition, a tactical ballistic vest, suspected hydrocodone pills, a baton and a cell phone, police said in a press release.
Williamsburg police and the FBI are investigating the incident and additional charges are possible.
The investigation continues.
