Kentucky jail employee charged with sex crime against inmate

A Kentucky jail employee has been charged with having an inappropriate sexual relationship with an inmate, according to Kentucky State Police.

Ladonis Mayfield, 31, from Taylorsville, is charged with second-degree sodomy and first-degree official misconduct, according to jail records. KSP said Mayfield is an employee at the Shelby County Detention Center and had inappropriate relations with a female inmate on April 1.

KSP learned about the allegations Friday, three days after the alleged misconduct. Court documents say Mayfield engaged in sexual relations with the inmate while on duty two separate times inside the inmate’s isolated cell.

Mayfield admitted to the behavior in an interview with KSP, according to court documents.

Mayfield is being held in the Oldham County jail, according to KSP. His bond is set at $25,000 for the sodomy charge and $2,500 for the official misconduct charge, according to jail records.
