Man arrested for diesel theft in KY also a suspect in Washington murder case
A man who was previously arrested for a diesel fuel theft in Kentucky is also a suspect in a murder case out of Washington state, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
In March, the sheriff’s office arrested Dariel Nunez Montero, 31, and two other Louisville men after an investigation into a large-scale diesel fuel theft operation resulted in a loss of over $18,000, according to the sheriff’s office.
All three men were charged with engaging in organized crime and theft by unlawful taking of between $10,000 and $1 million.
During the investigation, the sheriff’s office learned that Montero was a suspect in a Washington state murder that left a 31-year-old woman dead. The sheriff’s office said they coordinated with the Vancouver Police Department and were able to secure a search warrant that allowed Vancouver police investigators to recover critical evidence.
The homicide happened in early November in Vancouver, Wash., according to KPTV. Courtney Clinton was found dead inside a car along with her 1-year-old son, who was unharmed.
The local medical examiner determined Clinton died from cut wounds in her neck, according to KPTV
Montero is charged with murder and is awaiting extradition back to Washington County, Vancouver police said.
